When I was 19 years old my father passed away. During his last few days in hospital a medical team rushed in, told him in clinical jargon that he was “no longer for resuscitation,” and left without checking if he understood. I can still see the confusion and stress on his face. I stepped in, reworded it so he could truly understand, and the relief in his eyes is something I’ll never forget.
That moment changed my life.
One month after his death, I became a Healthcare Assistant — a role that grew into over a decade in healthcare, from hospital wards and minor injury units to school nursing and supporting older people to get the benefits they deserve.
Over the years, I’ve seen how complicated, overwhelming, and sometimes uncaring the system can be. Too often, patients’ voices are lost.
That’s why I started Your Voice in Care — to help people feel heard, understood, and confident in their care.
I can help you or a loved one: ✔ Attend appointments and explain things clearly ✔ Speak to healthcare professionals on your behalf ✔ Help with benefits and forms ✔ Make sure your wishes are respected in every decision
